Agghhhhhh!!!

In testing within my own system, Ive come across a fairly signifcant bug in the 1.03.4.10 release. It's actually not really that bad, but a stupid blunder on my part.

In the Insteon Controller module, the background poll status command WILL NOT update the actual status. This will also cause the new changes to the Insteon Device Chg trigger to not fire properly when a change is detected during a status poll.

Ive gone ahead and fixed the system and have two ways to get it out to everyone. I can go through the hassle of rolling the version number to 1.03.4.11 or I can go ahead and stick with version 1.03.4.10, release a patch file to those who already have downloaded and installed, and update the 1.03.4.10 setup to contain the patch.

The latter method would be the easiest to roll out, but there will be no good way to determine if you've got the patch or not except to go by the datetime stamp on the affected file (phctlrs.pbd).

Let me know what you all think is the best way to proceed.

Dave.

The patch is quick now, but will cost you more in the end. Go with a new version number.

I'm not seeing any X10 traffic now. I'll investigate more tomorrow to see if it is a coincidence or related to the new release.

I noticed this by seeing Unknowns in status screens but thought it was something benign.

I agree with the version bump. A lot of people got confused with the last patch file.

Dave,

Just so you know, my lack of X10 traffic was a coincidence. I had plugged in a laptop and the transformer had reduced the X10 signals to level the PLC (a weak X10 receiver) couldn't hear them. Unplugged the Laptop and the X10's started coming through. (Note to self, must replace X10 RF...)

I know, you're all right...the version bump is cleaner...I hate patches.

Anyways, since it's going to be a version bump, Im trying to squeak in some quick fixes that I missed in .10 (the updated VBScript functions).

If anyone would like the patched file, just shoot me an email and I'll send it to you.

Dave.

I got lost in the discussion. Is 1.03.4.10 for use, or does it need a patch, or was it incorporated into the 1.03.4.10 release, or are we waiting? What is status?
(Just looking for a new toy to play with ).

Lazyman,

1.03.4.10 is ready to go, but it does have a bug in the Insteon status update. This is also the first version supporting the Elk, so a couple of problems have been found with that as well.

.11 is in the works and will primarily be a fix for these things so if you havent already done .10, you would probably be just as well to wait.

Dave,

I take it .11 will not be out before the new DST kicks in this weekend?

The DST fix was in the last version, before ".10".

Other possible V.10 bugs or possibly operator dumb dumb

Running 98se Reinit almost always hangs powerhome.

Doing a lot of Reinits because I'm trying to get echo on housecode "O" which does not seem to work.

Code in pwrhome.ini:
[W800RF32]
TimeOut=500
UpdateStatus=yes
Echo="O"
EchoController=1
IgnoreCM17A=no
AllowExtended=yes

controler 1 is CM11A
Have tried house code D as well and tried it with and without ""

Never mind the echo part Guess pwrhome.ini is no longer the way to go - found the answer in controller settings

Will try it now.

Dean,

Yep, those settings were moved to within the database and are accessible under the "Settings" button.

Concerning the reinits hanging PowerHome...not good. You may want to check this post out and let me know if any of my comments apply http://www.power-home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1160&PN= 1&TPN=1
