Starting with PH 1.03.4.9. I was able to auto discover my devices, but I am not getting any pending operations. None of the links that I am creating/deleting/modifying are happening--they stay flagged. I changed the interval to 5 and tabbed out, but I still don't see anything happening. What am I missing?

Looks like this thread may help. I'll give it a try when I get home tonight.

At the risk of making this the longest thread where only one person wrote anything, I have another question. I did get the Pending Operations problem fixed. I now have a working system. I would like to do one more thing though. First, I have an ELK system and am using the M1XSP to connect to the 2414S. I just disconnect the cable between the M1XSP and 2414S and connect the 2414S to my computer when I am managing my links. I do not have any KeyPad Lincs. But I would like to set up some different groups to make my rule writing easier for the Elk. So, can I store different group information in the 2414S? For instance, I would like the following groups:
INTERIOR
EXTERIOR
UPSTAIRS
DOWNSTAIRS
ALL_LIGHTS
WELCOME_HOME (these are the lights that I want to turn on when I come home)

As you can see, there will be lights that will belong to more than one group. Can I assign a particular light to more than one group? Can the groups be defined in the 2414S such that the ELK can reference them with its automation rules?

Regards,

As to the "lights in more than one group" yes. That's the beauty of Insteon and Powerhome.

As to "can the elk manipulate these groups" I'm not that familiar with that function, but I believe you just have to creat the groups in a particular range, as the Elk only uses part of the full 255 group range.

HTH!

Well, everything was going great, but then I think my database went screwy or something. I have links that forever say DELETING, FLAGGED CREATE, or CHECKING. No amount of rebuilding seems to fix it. I also noticed that the pending operations box doesn't show things like it used to. I remember that right after I start up PH, I was always seeing something going on up there, but now nothing.    I also see that some of the "button" fields have numbers like "-1004", where the rest of them show "1". Finally, I think that the SDM log is showing that nothing is really happening anymore either. I get the following logged, but then nothing else is ever added. Do I need to reset the 2414S? If so, how do I do that?

Well, two days now and I don't seem to have any progress. I've ordered a new PLC, which should be here tomorrow or tuesday. It's strange that everything was going good with PH--I was adding and deleting links and groups, and then all of a sudden, the PLC stopped responding. I really hope that PH didn't break my PLC, because I want to use it to manage my links. Smarthome doesn't like supporting the 2414S--they said that it was meant for their own interenal development, but the community started screaming for it. Bottom line is, the really won't tell you anything over the phone about troubleshooting it.

Here, I tried uploading the timercoreapp using the salad downloader. Funny thing is, SALad reports success, but the SDM says differently.

downloadTimer started
timerActivate enabled

endlist
ui:0001:0004:isresponding=

ui:0001:0005:downloadSALadFile=C:\Program Files\Smarthome\SALad Downloader\timerCoreApp06.slb
PLC:0001:0005:ERROR=012:MapNotLoaded-PLC not connected or no valid map. Try using isResponding first.

ui:0001:0007:downloadSALadFile=C:\Program Files\Smarthome\SALad Downloader\clearCoreApp.slb
PLC:0001:0007:ERROR=012:MapNotLoaded-PLC not connected or no valid map. Try using isResponding first.
PLC:0001:0007:downloadSALadFile=-7

I googled "error=012" and mapnotloaded, which gave exactly two hits, neither of which was terribly useful.

I'm looking for ideas here.

Maybe a dumb question, but have you tried unplugging it for a bit?

I left it unplugged overnight. I've pressed the reset button until my fingers turned blue. I did it with it plugged in, unplugged, while plugging and while unplugging. I also help it in while the moon was full, but that didn't matter either. I think it's fried. I just don't know why.

Skip,

I doubt the problem is with your PLC. Normally only two things will keep operations from showing in the pending ops window...not being flagged active (which you've already said they are) and being flagged as COMM Failed. You can check both in the "Device Maint" tab of the Insteon Explorer. If they are flagged as COMM failed, that column will appear with a reddish background.

The only other things that will keep operations out of the Pending window is the controller not being active (such as the PLC actually failed or the Insteon DM not configured in the Explorer) or Poll Interval set to 0 or all of the checkboxes in the Insteon Explorer unchecked (in this last case, create or delete links should still show up).

Check these and let me know,

Dave.

Device Maint tab shows every device in my network as comm failed except my PLC (that is, they show the reddish background). I would say that it is a statistical impossiblity that every device in my network would fail at the same time except the PLC. Kinda reminds me of when I was marching in formation at my boot camp graduation and my dad commented that I was the only person that was in step :)

If they are flagged as comm failed, should I check the box? What does comm failed mean? What does checking that box do?

The quick answer is to check the red boxes. That will clear the errors and get you going again. You may also want to increase the number of failures parameter as several have done.

OK. I checked the red boxes and what do you know? It started queuing up the pending ops again. I finished creating all of my links and I'm really thinking that it's gonna work. I hook up the PLC back to the Elk again and test some groups. Guess what. None work. I restart PowerHome again, and I still get the same message from the SDM at the end: PLC:getlinks=false, failed due to corrupted database. Now, I've tried resetting the PLC for a few days now, so I figured by now I probably need to reload the TimeCoreApp, so I fire up SALad and I still get the ERROR:012 message. Oh well, my new PLC should be here in the next day or two. *sigh*

SOLVED

Replacing the PLC fixed it.
