Hello, I just installed ver 2.1b on a windows 7 32bit
computer. The SDM appears to be working, but the powerhome
will not connect to the controller(2414u).    Any ideas
would be be greatly appreciated! Power home is run as
 administrator.   Thanks Brian

Brian,

 This post may help: http://power-home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3000

Basically, you need to right-click the SDM3.EXE and make sure that its set to "Run as Administrator" snd "XP compatibility". This allows "most" people to run the SDM on Win 7. If it doesnt work, what usually solves the "stubborn" ones is turning UAC off.

You may want to look into upgrading to a PLM eventually. The PLC is not compatible with the new I2CS devices and can only be programmed with a PLM. It appears that more and more devices are being released as I2CS.

 Dave.

I had to turn off the UAC, got everything working, i set
the UAC to low risk , tried to run powerhome again, same
results. I turned the UAC off and rebooted, my controller
was missing, and my devices were gone????    any ideas why?
im going to rebuild everything again, hopefully i will not
lose it again.    Thanks for your help!

Brian,

Ive only seen this happen when PowerHome is installed into c:\program files\powerhome. What happens when PH is in the program files directory is that UAC "virtualizes" the database files and the actual database file is located somewhere beneath your user directory. When UAC is turned off, this virtualization should also be turned off and PowerHome will look at the "real" database which would be blank since it was previously looking at the virtualized version in the user directory.

Since you've installed to c:\powerhome, even though Ive never seen this happen, it may be similar in that the database file was virtualized. Just look for the pwrhome.db file in a subdirectory under your user dir and copy it to the PH database dir and overwrite the existing file (I would make a backup first just in case that is the real file and the "virtual" is the new file).

 Dave.
