So, a second PLM died and I replaced it. Went into the Insteon Explorer, put the new address in the Replace column, and hit Save/Refresh. The Pending window filled up, and the Raw Log started scrolling, but, four NAK’s came back and that was all she wrote.
Things have been working for so long I don't remember what to try now.

Ooohh, I'll be watching this. I think I will be replacing my PLM soon and I am definitely sweating it. I am hoping someone can post a
step-by-step, click-by-click tutorial on how to do it without headaches.

Well, Dave remoted-in to my system and poked around a bit. We decided that something must be up with my USB-to-serial adapter, then, all of a sudden, everything started working!
He did re-register the serial-port driver just before that, though.
Thanks Dave, and, sorry MrGibbage! Entering the new address in the Replace column is all that is needed.

Would need to see the Raw Log to be sure but a NAK
suggests there are I2CS devices that will not accept
commands from the new PLM. Normal I2CS protocol response
for a device to reject commands from a PLM is it not
linked to.

The NAK's were from PH not being able to talk to the PLM.

Hmm. My ControLinc is no longer firing its triggers. I see the traffic in the logs, though...
Incoming Insteon received on INSTEON PLM controller INSTEON-PLM. From Address:[00.73.4C] To Address:[2A.A2.C4] Flags:[65] Cmd1:[17] Cmd2:[1]. Decode: Group Cleanup. From: CONTROLINC To: PLMCTLR1 Group: 1, On
Trigger is set for Insteon Group In (On).

The message being received is the Group Cleanup Direct.
There should have been a Group Broadcast message before
that one. The PLM is likely missing a Responder link
record for the ControLinc. The Group Broadcast message is
received by all Responders at once so the message does not
have a specific Responder Insteon address. For the PLM to
process the Group Broadcast message it must have a
Responder link record that contains the ControLinc Insteon
address.

Tony,
Lee is correct. Since you're getting the group cleanup, you've got the link in the PH database. To fix your problem, just do a "Add Full" on the Setup tab of Insteon Explorer to refresh the links in your PLM.
