I had to switch to generator power - that's never been a problem before, but it's the first time I'm using my new Honda generator and it turns out it's defective - whenever the resistive load was small it had varied voltage by 3V in a loop, and possibly varied frequency as well. - I took it off line within hours and went back to my backup generator, which is pretty solid (varies by <0.3V). The PLM had been plugged in, but unused, while the bad generator was connected. With the good generator I tried to get PH to work, but it can't communicate with the PLM (I see some RX responses to ADD things, but lots of NAKs). I don't know if the lack of operation is because of generator power messing up/confusing the PLM, or the PLM is toasted and I should quickly order a new one.   Is there any way to test comms/health of the PLM directly before I get my real power back (2 days est)?

Thanks!

Jeff,

PowerHome doesnt really have a way to check the health of the PLM. It can monitor timings to send and receive messages and track timeouts,
NAK's, and ACK's to give a general overview of the health of the Insteon network as well as specific devices but doesnt have a way to really
evaluate the PLM. It either responds to the commands or it doesnt.

The one thing I would do is reset your COMM's for all your Insteon devices and check if anything was flagged disabled. If you lost power and
there was some sporadic power with the Honda generator, you may have gotten some of your devices flagged COMM disabled which will stay until
manually cleared.

Hope you are able to back up soon.

Dave.

Thanks Dave for the info - as it turned out, as soon as I got real power back all was well.   Hopefully this info will be useful for others :-)
