Glad this app is back....
One suggestion i have always been wanting to make is to
have a way to duplicate button sizes. You could either do
this by having a copy button option or by displaying the
current button size in text boxes that also set the size.
This way, an end user could easily type in the button
dimensions.

The two things I want to get in there next are text boxes for the x, y, width
and height and a way to use the value of a global variable as the label for a
button. No idea when I will get to it but those are on the top of my list.

I'd like an authorization code to get the program too.

I have sent out promo codes for everyone that has asked. If you got one it
will expire 4 weeks after you received it. So make sure to use it before then.
If anyone out there has paid for ctrlHome a good review on the app store
would be greatly appreciated.

I have not previously bought the app. I assume the promo code would only be for those who purchased it before right?
If not, please send :)

I didn't get any opportunity to put in the promo code. I
suppose I just got charged for the app again. Correct?

No ctrlHome does not work well with X10 right now. ctrlHome is exactly the
same as iHome 2. When I designed iHome 2 I didn't realize that the method
I was pulling the device list from PH only includes Insteon devices. The next
version of ctrlHome will support anything that PH supports. It is a long way
out though.

Connection Issues.....
I AM able to see the Powerhome web server when I "Test with Safari" (good sign). I also see activity in the PH event log. However, Crtlhome keeps giving me a "connection error" when I tap the "done" button.
FYI... I am using port 85 (not 80 - as it is used for another service). The "Ignore" doesn't seem to help the issue.
Also, I am using a dyn.dns address insteand of a hard numbered IP address if that matters (it doesn't seem to matter to Safari).
Lastly, I have a couple of IP addresses listed as "trusted", but none blacklisted...I don't think this would be the issue...
EDIT*******
Was able to "ignore" and go to the web section of the app. There I re-entered my ID and password to PH's server and all seemed to connect well.
still a bit buggy...but working!

There are some bugs related to connection timeouts. It was written before
apps could run in the background. When an app runs in the background the
connection can time out. Then when you open the app again it displays the
errors. Its one of the things on my list for next time I work on it.
I use a domain name and port 8080 for my setup. It should work with a host
name or ip and any port.
The trusted list allows an ip in without authenticating. ctrlHome send the
username and password so it does not need to be on the trusted list (in fact
it may not work if it is).

Is this exactly the same software as my existing iHome2? Or
has there been improvements?
What is it called now so I can search iTunes, and if I send
you my Apply ID am I too late for the discount? Hope
not....

The only change is a find and replace to change iHome 2 to ctrlHome.
I have given out all of the promo codes for now.

Well Kevin, I had completely forgotten about this thread and your response... so after just buying a new iPhone with the requisite IOS level, I just went and bought ctrlHome from the App Store (a previous purchase attempt had failed due to down-level IOS). Then after spending some time trying to get it to work with my collection of X-10 devices this morning, to no avail, I came back to these forums to search for answers... Oops. My memory must be failing in my old age.
I'm not worried about the $6, and would gladly pay more for that next version you've mentioned. Any idea of the release date yet?
Thanks.

I don't have a release date. I have decided to take a different approach
though. The new version is open source and will be free browser based
and probably free app based. It will also target both mobile and
desktop.
Here is the thread I started for it home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2917&PN=1">http://www.pow er-

Kevin, yes I did see that thread. I'll look forward, and hope you get some good collaborators! Years ago I would have enjoyed the challenge, and still would today if time and energy were not the problem (I no longer stay up all night coding).
In the meantime, I'll give macros a try as a work-around for indirectly sending X-10 commands ctrlHome > Power-Home (even if I can't get status back). I need macros anyway. I'm new to Power-Home and am still getting it set up.
Thanks,
Gregg
