If the 'V' in the address is for display only, then I guess it's OK, but I would think the PLC needs to recognize that virtual address coming from the IRlinc's broadcast cleanup and acknowledge, or else wouldn't the IRlinc retry until Max ?

I presume you meant "particular Insteon commands", since no one but the IRlinc and its internal memory know about the IR signal sent to it.

Anyway, glad you're onto the IRlinc. Thanks.

I guess I always thought of it like this.
The virtual insteon device (VID) lives on the PLC. This VID could then be added to any other insteon scene, such that when the scene was activated, that VID would see it and then a trigger would then be fired. I guess the PLC would then have to know to send certain handshake signals to other insteon devices from time to time that will be thinking the VID is a real device. Since the VID is not a real device, the PLC will have to send out the acknowledgments, etc for it.

I would think (hope???) this could be more reliable than the problem I currently have with the "all off" command on my controlinc. I could add this VID to one of the scenes attached to one of the buttons, it would increase the reliability of the all off button triggering my elk. Or maybe it won't because I'll still be stuck behind the fact that the all off command doesn't send group cleanups.

I don't know. You guys are way more knowledgeable about this than I am. It was just an idea I had. Maybe it is a dumb idea.
