I’ll chime in it doesn’t work. I have had to rewrite Weather Alert because they have changed their whole format. I will release it shortly. After that I’ll work on Get_Weather which seems to have the same symptoms.

syonkers & BeachBum,

Sorry for misleading you, but I appear to have spoken to soon. My method using a global variable was causing my truncation problem, so please ignore that....

Now, for further information, after changing to local variables, I still got blanks returned. Just for fun, and because I don't know what I am doing yet, I tried removing the "°F" from the ph_regexsnap command, stopping at the last <b> and it worked! The proper Temperature was retrieved and stored in the Global variable. I don't know what the ramifications are by doing this, just thought it might help you figure out the problem!

Pete,

Thanks so much. If you can outline the nature of the issue, I'd take a crack at rewriting the GET WEATHER macro to accomodate it.

Shazam,

Thanks for the effort. Always fun to hook up with newer members. Welcome to the board, and to Powerhome. It's amazing over time, how ideas, and the power of this platform tend to unfold and continually present us with new challenges. The members on this board have been infinitely helpful to me over the years, and I suspect will continue to be.

Regards to all!

-S

I’m looking at it now.. I’ll get back as soon as I have something positive to report.

OK I’ve got it working with a rewrite. Just need a little more time debugging. I show the temp, humidity, wind chill if present and forecast as of now. Do you also want like “tonight” and “tomorrow” and the following days? I hope not. That’s a bit more time.

Nothing tricky on my side regarding "tonight/tomorrow". I use the "CURTEMP" and "CURRFORECAST" (the text) to turn on and off the house fans based on temperature and outside light (cloudy or not). If you have a firing solution, I'd love to see it. :)

The only firing solutions I know of is sampling with a Timed Event and see if there is a change. There always will be a change in the forecast because of the time. But you could add code just to sample the change in the temps. I fire the Weather Alert macro based on the urgency of the alerts. A Tornado Warning is sampled every one minute and is broadcast every five if no change. If a change occurs then it is updated.

Right now I’m installing automatic Global creates for those that haven’t used this before. I’m still using the same URL. Almost done.

OK, here’s one that works everywhere I tested it.

I don’t know what the problem was I just recoded it and now seems to work. I think it started when we had the degree problem. There’s been some playing with the format so who knows.

Hi Gang (especially Pete),

Ok, I finally got around to wiping out all of my "GET_WEATHER" macro versions I've been playing with and tried to run the SQL for the above. On the second line, I get a "wrong number of arguments" error. I'll figure it out, just thought I'd let you know.

I wiped mine out and installed from the posting and mine runs fine. Try wiping it out again and reinstalling.

Ok....I don't know why, but after removing the "junk" from the bad inserts...and restarting PowerHome, it worked fine. Who knows. Anyway, now I have to tune and test it, and tie it back into my original macros to see if it can control the house fans. More updates as events warrant.

Ok, got the temp working now...the Windchill, etc. still need work, but I don't have anything that actively uses them yet, so can tune over time now. Thanks Pete!

If you use the zip code I had in there the wind-chill works. Wind-chill only works if there is any reported. This macro does not calculates it.
