Hello all,
Been active doing other things as of late and would like
to upgrade to the current version (2.1.4) of PH. I'm
currently running 2.1b and would like to know what the
upgrade process is.
Been trying to follow along here but with 200+ posts in
this thread I thought I would just ask.
I did find a few links from Dave and have downloaded the
2.1.2 and 2.1.4 zip files. Where should I start? I
thought I read somewhere that I would need to send Dave a
copy of my database to be converted, is that still true?
Thanks

Backup your database and ini files then rename the powerhome folder. Download and install the 212 and take all the defaults like let it install to the C: root. Next follow these instructions from Dave:
"Just uploaded beta version 2.1.4. You can get it here: http://www.power-home.com/download/ph214.zip. Unzip over version 2.1.2 or 2.1.3."
And I would add answer to the duplicate question with replace. Works fine with no problems.
Next add back your database to the database folder and your ini to the powerhome folder. Then edit the ini for any paths that don’t point to the c:\powerhome… paying particular attention to db path. . Run PHUPG.EXE found in the powerhome directory. You then should be good to go.

Thanks Pete,
And what about Remote DS and Remote CC? Do they still work
with the new versions? If not, are there updated versions
available that do work?

note that it is Ph_geturl1 <---- ending with 1 (one)

Hi - I appreciate the comment field, but it's kind of short, and if you type in a long comment, there doesn't seem to be any way to see it later unless you select the entire comment and copy it to a notepad window. Am I missing something?
thanks

My comment field word wraps to a multi line field when I move to another macro line and back. Have screen capture example but have not been able to upload last night or this morning. I looked around for some option that controls the behavior, found none.

What about the formula field? Mine never wraps. (I may have asked this before, but I couldn't find it. Sorry if
it is a dupe.)

Yes, the formula field wraps to a multi line display. If I can get the small screen capture to post it has both the formula and comment field. Forum is running so slow I think it times out before 50k uploads.

Hmmm.... I wonder why I can never get a multi-line formula to display correctly?
Speaking of website slowness, I have definitely seen that. Especially lately. It sometimes takes a full minute to load a
page here. And last night I was getting some sort of database error. Dave, is there anything that can be done to improve the
performance in the forums?

By the way, I timed that last post and it took 30 seconds from the time I hit "Post" until the page
refreshed with the new post.

For those who track this topic but may not monitor the PH forum in general, see the following link for Dave post with I2CS support on 2.1.4.
Support for I2CS on 2.1.4
Note that Enable Pending and Status Scan must be checked to complete adding an I2CS device.
After adding the I2CS update to 2.1.4 there is an additonal option under iEngine column for I2CS.

Lee -
Thanks MUCH!
I periodically check for updates but it has been awhile
since I remembered to check, so your advisory was helpful!

Very late to the party...
So, we can go straight from 2.1b to 2.1.4?

Summarizing what has been posted somewhere in this thread
...
First, make a backup of your pwrhome.ini and pwrhome.db
files. This is where all your configuration info is.
Next, rename the c:\powerhome directory to something like
c:\powerhome_bk.
Reinstall the 2.1.2 beta full install into c:\powerhome
(the default). Unzip the newest (with I2CS support)
2.1.4 beta on top of it. You should be able to launch
this virgin install and PH should work with you getting
the "Enter a username" message. This is just to verify
that PH is able to launch properly and you don't have
other problems with your PC.
If that all works . . .
shutdown PH and copy over your pwrhome.ini and
pwrhome.db files into the proper locations and overwrite
the virgin ones. Also, if you have created a custom PH
web site vs the default one, copy the contents of the
“web” folder into and overwrite the virgin ‘web’ folder.
Relaunch PowerHome and you should be fully recovered (you
may have some graphics, plugin INI files, web files, etc.
that are missing but you'll have the originals in your
renamed c:\powerhome_bk directory).
NOTE: Enable Pending and Status Scan must be checked to
complete adding an I2CS device.

One additional item regarding I2CS. The I2CS support is a ZIP with two files only. It does not move PH2 to 2.1.4. The 2.1.4 update has to be installed first. Then unzip the two files containing I2CS support on top of the 2.1.4 install.
As far a moving from 2.1b, I believe 2.1.2 has to be installed first. Then install 2.1.4 update. It is not necessary to install 2.1.3 update as 2.1.4 update has all the fixes originally released in 2.1.3 update.
