Pete, I never opened it up to look since it seems to be working well now. In order to take this switch down, I need to declare a "downtime window" for my customers because my inbound network router is on the same circuit, so I avoid rewiring in here at all costs.
General note - My confusion around groups on the keypad stemmed from the fact that I have macros controlling the "button lights" as well as the devices to which they link (directly via Insteon, or indirectly through macro activity). So I have a second set of groups setup just for the KPL lights, and it was throwing me off...
I guess this is one of those things that just takes a lot of getting used to in order to get it down.
As I said, for the moment, it seems to be working well, but I'm going to take Pete's advice and invest in a few filters the next time I place a SmartHome order.
