The Macro PORCH LIGHTS DIM was executed twice in the Event Log. Was this a planned execution?
9/20/2010 16:02:17.854 8   ; Macro PORCH LIGHTS DIM executed.
9/20/2010 16:03:14.045 8   ; Macro PORCH LIGHTS OFF executed.
9/20/2010 16:03:30.238 8   ; Macro PORCH LIGHTS DIM executed.
Also what type of load is being controlled by the ToggleLincs?
Don’t know of any way to do a Factory Reset other than using the Set button.
I’m going through the raw log.

I manually executed the macro twice.
The load is a pair of outdoor porch light with 3 candleabra incadescent bulbs in each lamp, 6 60 watt bulbs per toggle link.

After sifting through the documentation I believe the X10 DIM is invalid as there is no indication of unit code and the house code appears to be “O”. The “raw” is not truly raw so we don’t know the full byte structure of the X10 data and the H/U code may be there. The ToggleLinc is capable of sending X10 commands and my guess would be SPL is defective. I would swap it out with one of the others and reconfigure the network since you only want to move the furniture once. If nothing else it would get us closer to the problem.

For what ever it's worth, I have had this problem (toggle links not responding to PH commands) with the BPL (back porch light) and FPL (front porch light) in the past 18 months and all eventually cleared themselves up with no deliberate action on my part.
This behavior all started after I made an attempt to set PH up to control 2 x10 appliance modules. I was never able to get that to work and just abandoned the attempt. I fully believe that whatever I did in attempting to setup PH to control those x10 appliance modules is what is at the root of the toggle link switches returning to a brightness level of 74 after receiving a manual fast off command.

Herb, I picked up on that earlier but couldn’t figure what you did that might have confused PH. Which leads me to believe it has something to do in the remote device? So that is why I was trying to figure a way to reset back to factory which would get rid of any X10 configurations. Possible if you can remember what you did might help. Did you define the X10 modules to PH only? I assume you have an X10 controller. Is that still plugged in? I’m referring to the desktop type. Bear with us between Lee and I plus the vast knowledge of everyone else here we will figure it out. What happens if you change the Fast OFF to OFF?

Pete,
As best I can recall, I attempted to define the x10 modules within PH. I currently do not have any x10 controller in use, but I used to use active home and one of the programmable controllers that stored and executed commands without a pc needing to be attached.
When I use just the OFF command, the light stays on.
I will be delayed in responding to further conversations this week due to out of town comittments but I will be watching and responding as soon as I can.

The 4- 5 second delay between the MACRO PORCH LIGHTS DIM commands had no effect on the outcome. Thanks for trying this suggestion.
The first MACRO DIM execution has an X10 segment on the powerline immediately after the ON to level 84 for 07.24.24. No way to tell for sure where the X10 segment was generated but the suggestion is it came from 07.24.24. The second MACRO DIM execution for device 07.24.24 has a Broadcast message sent from 07.24.24 immediately after the ON to level 84. I would FACTORY RESET 07.24.24.
In both the first and second MACRO DIM executions for device 07.26.8C a Broadcast message is sent from 07.26.8C immediately after the ON to level 84. I would FACTORY RESET 07.26.8C.
There is background Status Scan activity going on at the same time the second MACRO DIM is executing. I don’t see any immediate problem caused by that.
Sorry for the delay in analyzing the last round of trace files. Some things came up locally that got in the way.

Herb, just out of curiosity what was the H/U codes for the box fans? And are they still plugged in? One other thought… Is there a possibility something is holding the toggle in the up position?

Pete,
Right now I am away from the house and don't remember what the H/U codes are for the x10 appliance modules. I have unplugged them from the outlets and they are sitting on the shelf at the moment. I don't think anything was holding the toggle in the up position but my wife did use a yardstick to reach behind the furniture and flick the toggles down and turn the light off. I then shut down PH to keep it from attempting to turn them back on while I am away. My wife did turn the G1 light on full (this is another toggle link controlling a pair of lights outside the garage door) and later turned it off and said she burned her finger on the metal screw that holds the light switch cover on. So for now, until I get back, these lights will remain off and PH is currrently shut down to keep her happy.

Thanks Herb… That almost sounds like an overload which would indicate a defective module. When I get a chance I’ll look into it further. Just got back from the beach if you know what that means…
