ID: PLM 2412S. Insteon PLM Controller.
     Device Type: 0305
     Port: COM5
     Firmware: 7A
     ID: 0F.44.B1

OK, so firmware is 7A. Is that up to date? Can I flash it? The motion sensor is 8 feet away from the Lamplinc dual band receiver. I have another motion sensor which is 15 feet away and through two walls which seems fine, although I haven't tried extended commands since I set it up a few weeks ago (another return). The lamplink only turns on a table lamp once a day (timed event) and other than that is used to relay the wireless insteon. It seems to register the on/off signals, so why not extended commands? More defective motion sensors, or do you think the lamplinc could be the culprit? I only have one, so I cannot test with another.

I doubt the Motion Sensor is defective. I'm testing with a v72 PLM. Smarthome does not reflash devices.

What other Dual Band devices are installed? How are the 120V legs being coupled?

How old are the other installed Insteon devices. The much older I1 devices do not repeat Extended commands. They do not block them but each Insteon device being a repeater is one of the things that makes Insteon reliable. An inventory of older I1 devices could affect Extended command reliability. Can the Dual Band LampLinc be moved closer to the PLM plug point.

I suspect you hit on the issue. I cannot say for certain, but the odds are 50/50. I only have one dual band device. The legs are coupled with no fewer than four of the old Signalinc RF 2442 ca.2006 (ver 2). I only bought one lamplinc since it was a dual purpose and the legs were already coupled . . . of course that was before PH could support extended commands, and before I even had heard of that. Groan, I feel more money going to Irvine . . . . I will temporarily move the lamplinc to the same leg as the PLM and see if I get results. Only the motion sensors are programmed, I don't really need the extended commands. One thing: is the low battery warning an extended command? I did receive that just fine.

That would do it. The SignaLincs (black external antenna) do not couple Extended commands.

I'm still concerned about the battery life issue. Could be the motion sensor just timed out and went to sleep so it missed the command to put the RF circuitry back to normal operation. Once you get reliable Extended message communication I would like to see the same Insteon Raw Log trace to verify the commands executed. The trace I posted has the expected command.

OK. I will post when I get a moment to do that, but it'll probably be a few hours (or days). Thanks for you help with this. I figured something odd was up when the same command was going out six times.

Yup. Problem solved. I temporarily put the lamplinc on the same power circuit as the PLM. Amazing how fast that script runs when it isn't timing out. Here is the log. It would take me too long to decipher, but I am betting it ran the way you would expect it. By the way, the script still shows the battery power is "0" and that jumper 5 is off. Any reason why this would be so?

The Jumper settings and battery level require Extended commands which actually execute but PH does not return the Extended data. The macro is setup to process the extended data if it is returned so once 2.1.5 comes out and fixes extended data the jumper settings and battery level should appear.

I have uploaded a new copy of MSETOPTIONS macro. A few posts into Page 1. I'm concerned the old version is missing a command that results in poor battery life after the macro is run to update the motion sensor configuration. I had some problems uploading the original macro file last year (which Dave was kind enough to explain my mistake) and I think I may have uploaded the wrong file when I finally did the upload process correctly.

Anyone who has installed the original macro should replace it with the correct version.
