Hey Keep,

When you say Powerhome doesn't know it's there, do you mean it's not showing up when you go to Help->About->Plugins or is it there but not responding to your settings etc.?

Gadgets

Its not showing up on Help > About > Plugins. Thought maybe it was McAfee preventing a registry change but there was no notification. I disabled that and tried again but no joy. Any ideas?

You didn't miss this step:

Next, you need to register the PH_CID.ocx file. To do this copy and paste the following code in the START-> RUN command box:

regsvr32 "c:\program files\PowerHome\plugins\ph_cid.ocx"

If done correctly you will get a message box pop-up that will tell you it was successful. If you don't get that message, double check your steps and try again.

did you? Also did you put the files in the same path as shown in the above instruction? If different you need to alter that path in this step to reflect where it is on your system.

This plugin I didn't have too much trouble with... the email plugin on the other hand...

Yep, did all that and got the pop up from regsvr32 that said it was successful

The plugin will not show up in Help->About until you define it in PH Explorer Setup->Plugins. At least in the version of PH I'm running. (1.03.4.12)

Is the Setup > Plugins last box Active checked on?

Trying to figure this out with you.

Is the directory path for PH on your system the same as the path in the CID setup (c:\program files\powerhome)?

Yes, it is. And, as below, the path is the same. Always helps to check the basics but so far I haven't found where I'm messing this up.

Well if I understand this right you get a message in the about screen that is **Plug in invalid**. If you uncheck the Active box and reinitialize PH what does the Help > about > plug ins say then?

When I do that its blank other than a "No plugins found" (I think thats the message. Don't have the computer to look at as I'm at work)

That’s what it should be. That would tell me there is a problem with Setup matching the files itself. Make sure what you have in Setup matches what is in the directory. My entries look like this..

PH_CID.phcid

C:\Program Files\Powerhome\plugins\phcid.ini

Is there anything in the Plugins
About Box after ***Plugin Invalid***?

Plug in ID: CID
Plug in failed during initialization

Keep,

Just continue on with the setup proceedure. Particularly, your .ini file. If you do not have the correct port in the .ini file you will get that same error.

If your .ini is all correct, then maybe the .ocx is corrupt and you need to download it again? I'm running out of ideas.

Two questions Keeper...

Are you 100% sure your modem is CID capable?

Are you setting the init string to the correct one for your modem?? Mine was different then any in the list is why I ask.

Brian

While we are checking. Using RegEdit verify these 2 entries are present.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PH_CID.phcid

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PHCID.phcid

Well, the ini file has the correct port and the modem is caller id capable. My registry entries, though, are:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PH_CID.phcid

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PH_CID.phcid
